Eight Best Shopping Places in Bangkok - Every time I call "Bangkok" to my friends, the first thing that comes to their mind is food, then shopping. Besides tasting the food, see Wat and visit the Grand Palace, shopping seems to be one of the most popular activity to be done by the tourists in Bangkok. The capital of Thailand has been successfully recognized as one of the premier shopping destination in Asia.

And here are some reasons why:

1. MBK Center

Most tourists who travel to Bangkok never miss a visit to the MBK Center. MBK or Mahboonkrong is a huge shopping complex with eight floors and has about 2000 stores. Imitation goods, leather products and electronic materials is the most common things you'll find at MBK.

2. Siam Discovery Center and Siam Paragon

Just a short walk from MBK, you will find a large shopping center complex intended for medium consumers upwards to the top. You'll find lots of original items from local and foreign brands. If you are traveling with children, you can also bring them to Siam Ocean World at Siam Paragon.

3. Pratunam

You can ride Tuktuk of Siam Pratunam Center to the area or you can walk through the malls like Central World, Big C and Gaysorn for more shopping. After arriving in Pratunam, you'll see the Platinum Fashion Mall and other shopping centers are smaller. These malls specializing in selling trendy clothing for fans of modern fashion. Across the street, go to the road that leads to the Baiyoke and you will see many stores selling clothing, shoes and accessories at wholesale prices.

4. Pantip Plaza

With a short walk from the Platinum Fashion Mall, you will arrive at Pantip Plaza. This mall is a large shopping complex for gadget enthusiasts like me. Pantip specialize in selling electronic products such as cameras, laptops, mobile phones, tablet PCs, gaming equipment and other electronic devices. Many also have a computer repair shop and repair the phone if you need it.

5. Patpong Night Market

Famous for performing ping-pong and dancing-girls, Patpong is actually also offers shopping options for cruise night. There are night markets that sell counterfeit goods and locally made T-shirts even though prices are not as cheap as in Pratunam or Chinatown.

6. Bo Bey Market and Chinatown

A short walk from Hua Lampong station will take you to Chinatown. Here you can buy textiles, clothing and gold. In addition to bars, cheap hotels and drunken tourists, Khao San also be a fun place to shop. Various items sold here will be interesting for a lot of young tourists. T-shirts, unique knick-knacks, souvenirs of travel, and shoes and handmade leather handbags abound here. Walk towards Soi Rambuttri and you will find a local craftsman who makes leather handbags, purses, and miniature Tuktuk made from beer cans.

8. Chatuchak Weekend market

This is the biggest weekend market in Bangkok, where you can find almost everything interesting. From clothes, shoes, bags, crafts, food, travel souvenirs, and even pets. This market is popular not only for tourists but also locals.
